New Jersey Workers’ Compensation Law requires that every employer maintain a Workers’ Compensation Insurance Policy covering every employee.
The law also requires the exact same benefits for every employee in the state, including both private industry employees and civil service employees, even the Governor.

This is referred to as a “third party personal injury” case because your case is against someone other than your employer, and workers’ compensation only affects your claim against your employer. In fact, your employer also benefits from your third party injury award.
