Family Leave Act

New Jersey law that requires public and most private employers to provide covered employees with up to 12 weeks of family leave (a leave of absence) upon the birth or adoption of a child or the serious health condition of an immediate family member. The Act guarantees reinstatement to the same or similar position unless the employer can show that the employee would have been discharged regardless of the leave.
