Jeffrey Monaghan, Esquire testifies before the Assembly Labor Committee

In June 2008, Jeffrey Monaghan, Esquire, a senior associate in our Workers’ Compensation department, testified before the Assembly Labor Committee on behalf of ATLA (Association of Trial Lawyers of America) New Jersey in support of a package of bills regarding the NJ worker’s compensation statute.

The package of bills includes legislation that would increase the monetary awards for certain injuries to the hands and feet. A worker who has sustained a significant work injury to the hand or foot may end up permanently restricted in his or her ability to perform routine job duties. This often results in the injured worker having to seek new employment with a corresponding reduction in financial compensation. This is especially true of blue collar workers such as factory and construction workers. The package of bills currently before the NJ legislature will strengthen and improve the workers’ compensation system.
