Pellettieri Rabstein & Altman is proud to announce that Jeffrey S. Monaghan was chosen as a recipient of the New Jersey Association for Justice’s (NJAJ) 2021 Gerald B. O’Connor Award.
The award was created to honor the memory of a legendary trial lawyer whose advocacy and professionalism earned him the respect of his peers.
NJAJ had words of high praise for Mr. Monaghan writing, “Over the course of your illustrious career you have shown your tremendous skill and dedication to your work as a trial lawyer. You have received the utmost respect from your peers, your adversaries, and your fellow NJAJ members. Your professionalism in the legal community is appreciated and recognized.”
Jeffrey Monaghan is a partner in the Workers’ Compensation department, concentrating his practice primarily on representing injured workers. Mr. Monaghan a former Deputy Attorney General with the New Jersey Attorney General’s office is a Certified Workers’ Compensation Trial Attorney. In 2019, Mr. Monaghan appeared on behalf of the New Jersey Association of Justice as Amicus Curiae Counsel before the New Jersey Supreme Court in the case of Kocanowski v Township of Bridgewater. Mr. Monaghan, on behalf of the Association, argued that a volunteer firewoman severely injured in the course of her service as a volunteer firefighter was entitled to a wage replacement benefit which had been denied her by the Township. The New Jersey Supreme Court issued a unanimous decision in February 2019 providing for these benefits to be paid to the injured volunteer. F
