Pellettieri Rabstein and Altman is pleased to announce that on January 21, 2020, New Jersey Governor Phillip Murphy signed into law legislation that increases the monetary award for certain injuries to the hands and feet sustained by workers as a result of a workplace accident. The Legislation Assembly Bill A110 was sponsored by Assemblywoman Joann Downey.
Pellettieri Rabstein and Altman attorneys Gary E. Adams and Jeffrey S. Monaghan have been strongly advocating for this legislation for a number of years in recognition of the severe financial and physical impact that serious injuries to the hands and feet can have on injured workers and the fact that the current law did not fairly compensate for these particular injuries.
Mr. Adams, Chairman of the firm’s Workers’ Compensation Department and past chair of The New Jersey State Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Section, worked with the sponsors of this legislation in drafting this bill.
Mr. Monaghan, who is on the Board of Governors of the New Jersey Association for Justice, testified on behalf of this organization before both the New Jersey Assembly and the New Jersey State Senate advocating the need for this legislation and urging passage of the bill.
It is our belief that the implementation of this new law will result in greater monetary recoveries for workers who sustain serious injuries to their hands and feet arising out of work related accidents.
