The Workers’ Compensation Basics seminar is designed as a “nuts and bolts” course for new lawyers, general practitioners and trial attorneys who do not normally handle workers’ compensation cases. Ms. Pagidas and the other panelists explained the legal standards and principles you need to understand when dealing with workers’ compensation claims.
Workers’ Compensation Law governs a job-related injury and, also, a condition or a disease caused or made worse by the kind of work one does – i.e. “arising out of or in the course of employment”. Workers’ compensation cases may also involve disability, Social Security disability, third party personal injury, and/or mass tort or toxic tort claims, as well. As a result, the New Jersey State Bar maintains a Workers’ Compensation Section for this practice area specialty.
