Our client, a homeowner, was defrauded by a contractor who was hired to perform extensive work at his home. The contractor took the homeowner’s money but failed to perform much of the work and the work that was performed was defective which led to the property being seriously damaged. Our attorneys aggressively pursued the contractor and was able to prove that the contractor violated the Consumer Fraud Act, which enables the homeowner to receive an award for triple the damages plus counsel fees.
The contractor filed an appeal. We defended the appeal in the Appellate Division. The Appellate Division agreed with the trial court and affirmed the award of treble damages to our client.
